A doctoral network

MIRACLE network

MIRACLE is a doctoral network that trains 12 doctoral candidates to lead innovation in the field of inflammatory regulation in cardiometabolic disease.

New technologies are quickly improving our knowledge of how cells work in disease, especially with the realization that inflammation is a key issue in many long-term illnesses. This has sparked a lot of interest in creating new treatments to reduce inflammation. This shift is creating a demand for researchers who are very skilled and can easily handle new discoveries, large amounts of information, and fresh ways of tackling the problems that come with long-lasting inflammation in diseases.

The uniqueness of the MIRACLE network stems from its comprehensive training program, blending cutting-edge research projects with top-tier training in communication, dissemination, and business. This approach ensures that MIRACLE produces versatile doctoral professionals, proficient in using emerging single cell and deep learning technology for biomedical research, positioning them distinctively in the European job market.

12 doctoral candidates

Partners

All 12 doctoral candidates work highly complementary and will benefit from coherent training that focuses on development and broadening of research competences, promoting scientific excellence, and utilizing expertise and infrastructures of network partners.

The MIRACLE network brings together leading academic groups and non-academic parties including companies and knowledge societies. Specifically, the MIRACLE network connects the following institutions and companies:

  • Amsterdam UMC, location Academic Medical Center, Netherlands
  • Maastricht University, Netherlands
  • University of Lille, France
  • University of Eastern Finland
  • University of Bonn, Germany
  • BiomimX Srl, Italy
  • Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium
  • University of Bern, Switzerland
  • AstraZeneca, Sweden
  • University of California San Diego, US
  • NanoString
  • Science Matters
  • European Atherosclerosis Society
